The Gym Has Non-Health Advantages Too

me in pink shirtEveryone talks about the wonderful heath benefits of working out and going to the gym. Now that I’m a new gym member, I’ve realized that there are several non health-related perks that no one talks about.

Surprising, but true, gym perks:

  1. I always get to wear comfortable shoes when I go to the gym. No need to subject my feet to the agony of heels or shoes that rub my feet raw in places. Sometimes I even get to go barefoot depending on what I’m doing.
  2. I don’t have to worry about my clothes matching or even looking presentable. Last night after sweating buckets in spin class, you could clearly see that I had a purple bra on under my hot pink shirt. No skin-colored bra required here and no one cared!
  3. I don’t have to shower or put on make up for the gym. There isn’t a point in either pre-workout as it won’t last long if I’m working effectively at changing my body. Woohoo, I don’t even have to put on a 5 minute face. Just wash and go.
  4. No one complains that my music is too loud or not an acceptable choice. No one reaches out to change the station. The musical accompaniment is my choice alone and can be loud, explicit, or disco depending on my mood.
  5. I am alone with my thoughts (or thought-free) if I want to be. No one interrupts my time. The hour is dedicated completely to me. This is a rarity in my life and I look forward to it almost as much as working on my new body.
