I’m a firm believer in passion. Everyone should have passion in their lives and live it to their fullest. Find something that makes your heart sing, puts a smile on your face, and makes a tough day better to get through. Try learning something new every day. Face one fear a week. Hobbies are also great passion makers.

Ever since I was young, I’ve looked for challenges. Challenges give me passion. When everyone else was taking French in high school, I took Russian. Why stick with just one alphabet, when you can learn a new one? If someone told me I couldn’t do something, I made darn sure that I did it. After an incident at Lowe’s, I even managed to install my garage door opener with my own two hands while on a ladder balancing the thing on my head because they told me I’d never be able to do it alone… and I called them afterwards to tell them I did.

Leg day is always a rough workout. It’s a workout that I hate but I also secretly love at the same time. Nothing gives me a sense of accomplishment like completing a leg workout. Since the lower half has some of the largest muscles in the body, it lets me move the biggest amount of weight and sets my highest personal records. It also gives me a challenge just walking to the car afterwards on wobbly legs. After my leg workout this week, I realized something. I was made for lifting and lifting gives me passion!

For me, it’s not about the competition against someone else. That doesn’t matter. I compete against myself. Can I do it? If I’ve already done it, can I do it better than I did last time? How much better? No wonder I get such a thrill from lifting. It’s a daily competition against myself to outdo the last workout. Lift more weight, set that personal record, drop body fat. Wow, what a realization! Lifting and I, we go well together.

What were you made to do? What’s your passion?
